A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

Hey ya'll! Before I get into telling you how to play the game, you should know that this is my first ever game made with a real programming language. I have been using Scratch for the past 4 years, and decided it was time to give python and pygame a try!

About:

In Blast'em, your goal is to kill as many enemy spaceships as possible before they shoot YOU!

How to play:

Playing the game is quite simple. Use the up/down arrow keys to move up and down, and press, or click and hold space to shoot.

Install instructions

Downloading For Windows:

Choose the "Blastem for windows (v2)" download option. When the download finishes, unzip the "blastemwin(v2).zip" file, and run the "Blast'em!.exe" file. If the game starts correctly, you are done! If you want to move the game to a different location, make sure to move the "blastem-dependencies" folder to the same location.

Downloading For Mac:

Choose the "Blastem for mac (v1)" download option. When the download finishes, unzip the "blastemmac(v1).zip" file, and run the "Blast'em!"  app file. If the game starts correctly, you are done! You can now freely move the game wherever you want! If you want the game to appear in your launcher, move it to your "Applications" folder.

Updating Your Current Copy For Windows:

Choose the "Blastem for windows (v2)" download option. When the download finishes, unzip the "blastemwin(v2).zip" file. Now, navigate to your OLD blastem-dependencies folder, and copy the "save_data.txt" file. After that step, paste the file into your NEW blastem-dependencies folder. Run the new "Blast'em!.exe" file. If your highscore is the same as it was before, then everything worked, and you can delete your old Blast'em files. If you want to move your new copy of the game to a different location, make sure to move the "blastem-dependencies" folder to the same location.

Note: Install instructions are not available for the source code download. Also, the source code is currently from Blastem for windows v1, so it is outdated.

A little easy, but not a bad game. You can pretty much just strafe back and forth while holding shoot (unless it ramps up in difficulty as you go on)

it does ramp up in difficulty, the enemies gradually spawn faster. There is a cap to how fast they can spawn, but might remove it if the game is too easy, even at max. Thanks for playing the game tho! :D

Hello! I have just updated the game, and the enemy spawn cap has been changed to allow more enemies in the later waves. Tell me if its better!

Thanks to anyone who downloaded :D
